What we do
SPS has developed and grown over the years by responding both to the requirements of the young people who are the focus of its activities and to the needs of their families.
Richly varied programmes of after-school and week-end activities feature professional dance and drama tutors, disco dancing, wheelchair multi sports and innovative, hugely popular food skills sessions. Saturdays and half-term holidays are particularly well catered for with still more dancing, sports and trips to Hollywood Bowl for 10-pin bowling. In the longer school holidays, there are even more ambitious family activity breaks in the glorious setting of Kielder Forest.
One of the common factors in all SPS programmes is the absence of eligibility criteria! All young people qualify, although places usually need to be booked in advance to ensure appropriate staffing levels including ‘one to one’ - are maintained.
While the development and delivery of activity programmes is SPS core business, the experience and expertise of its staff enable it to provide a range of additional support services that are, in many cases, unavailable from any organisation across the entire Tees Valley.
